published by my pimp

I submitted an article to my pimp Mom Logic before leaving on the Easter break last week and while I was gone it was accepted and published.

Check it out here. Its called "The Truth About the First Three Months" and already has 22 reader comments!

What do you think? Do you agree with my assessment of the first three months?

Edited to Add: This article invoked a LOT of strong emotional responses, which is the very best thing a writer can hope for. That said, not all of the experiences in this article were mine. As most of you know, I belong to a private mom club called "The September Mommies". This article was a direct result of a very candid, open and honest discussion we had with each other, relating to our first time experiences being new mom's. I took the best (or in this case, the worst ;) of what each mom experienced, looked for commonalities and wrote the article in summary form based on those findings.

I think its funny that so many of the comments on Mom Logic are focused on how wrong I am. Nowhere did I claim to be an expert. Nor did I claim that any of these were solely my experiences. Nor did I deny the truly wonderful nature of motherhood. My intent with this article was NOT to discuss the rainbow ice cream world of babies. It was to discuss the issues that new mom's face that NO ONE ELSE discusses.

Anyway... I'm thrilled so many people have enjoyed it. That's all I could hope for.

I read it, and I agree with some of it.

What blew my mind though was a comment from a reader that stated;

"I was as stressed and as close to insane as I ever want to be. Then I understood how moms somestimes kill their babies, even though they love them."

As a mother myself, I cant even fathom THINKING something like that!

I thought it was funny but nice to know that some moms have it waaaaaaaaaay worse than I do. My kiddo doesn't have colic so I consider myself very lucky!

sarah i remember wanting to shake liam to get him to stop crying. not saying i did, just that i seriously wanted to! and i LOVE that the article got such an emotional reaction from the readers; that's the best any writer can hope for :)

lolly i think i gave some of the readers the wrong impression; not everything that i talked about happened to me. i belong to an online circle of friends called the september mommies and this article was the result of a very candid conversation we had with each other about our first experiences being moms... i took pieces of everyone's impressions and compiled a sort of "list" of the worst. anyway, you're lucky if you it good. i'm seriously really happy for you!

First- I feel so relieved that I read ur article. I've ALWAYS felt like there was crap not talked about with babies--that everyone seemed to forget about once the baby got over the 3 month-or longer hump.
I always saw being pregnant as scary cuz it felt like joining a cult that kept secrets from me about their true practices.
Info like this needs to be out there.--It would really help people. My good friend "ripped" during natural childbirth and had never been told that could happen. From what I understand, there is a procedure where u can be snipped and she had NO knowledge of this tho she read more books on birth and babies than I can count.
It's scary.

bombshell share it with everyone you know!! the more comments the better. maybe then they'll publish more of my stuff!
